BigCommerce Vs Shopify – Who Will Win The Battle?

There has been a lot of discussion recently about which ecommerce software to go with. One of the main rivalries has been between BigCommerce and Shopify. Both of them offer an attractive solution which makes people indecisive in choosing between the two.

There are however big differences between the two, which is what I’ll go through in the text to come. The important thing to realize is what it is you actually need. If you first figure out the exact features that are most important to you, you’ll be able to choose one with more authority. Edited

The major difference between the big is actually one that is quite big. BigCommerce is massively feature packed with stuff, so the point where you can be confident that you have all that you need right there in the software.

Shopify is a zen like ecommerce software, that focuses on providing the main features, which beautiful and elegant designs, and should you need further development changes you can use their app store to bolt on new stuff. This is similar to how the Apple iPhone app store works.

They are both priced around the same. Although the difference with pricing is that BigCommerce charges for excess bandwidth over a certain amount, and Shopify charge a percentage transaction fee.

Both of these models mean that once your online store gets a lot of traffic and a lot of sales, you will inevitably pay more to use their ecommerce software.

So BigCommerce Vs Shopify, who wins? I would have to say BigCommerce – because they offer so much more in terms of features. I like the idea of having everything in my software just in case I need it one day.
